Cutler Bay is home to about 40,000 residents. According to the Cutler Bay website, the community is family-oriented and encompasses approximately 10 miles of land. Cutler Bay was incorporated in November of 2005. Today, it remains the newest incorporated municipality in Florida. Cutler Bay is located in Miami-Dade County. Originally, the area was referred to as "Cutler Ridge." In the past, Cutler Ridge was the only portion of Florida that remained unincorporated. In 2005, when the community voted to become incorporated, the area became officially known as "Cutler Bay." Both names refer to the town of Cutler, which was established in the general area in the late 1800s and abandoned in the early 20th century.
Cutler Bay is made up of 12,374 households. According to the 2010 census, 40,286 people live in the own. In 2010, the population density equaled 4,096.2 residents per square mile. More than 77 percent of the population is white. 14.2 percent is African American, less than one percent is Native American or Pacific Islander and 2.3 percent is Asian. 4.8 percent of the Cutler Bay population is from other races. Approximately 10 percent of the population is more and 65 years old and slightly more than half of Cutler Bay residents are female. Past statistics indicate that the area is has the twenty-ninth highest percentage of Nicaraguans in the County—totaling 1.43 percent of the Cutler Bay population.
